Stan Jordan- Senior Pastor

I am glad you have found our web site for NHBC. I want to give you a little information about my family, myself, and my ministry experiences.

I have been married to my wife, Chris, for 38 years. We have 3 children who are married and have children of their own, Lori, Dixie, and John. Lori and her husband, Jeff Loomis, are missionaries in Nagoya, Japan. They have 2 children, Kade and Avenly. Dixie and her husband, Stacy White, have 4 children, Robert, Caitlyn, Jacob, and Joshua. They are members of NHBC. John and his wife, Gao Foua, have a daughter, Mercy, and they live in Alquippa, PA. As you can see, God has blessed our family in a wonderful way.

I grew up in Decatur, GA attending Midway Elementary School and Avondale High School. Chris is a graduate of Towers High School in Decatur. I accepted Christ as my personal Lord and Savior at Peachcrest Baptist Church in 1970 at the age of 14. I had attended there since I was 6 years old, and I finally gave my life to the Lord on Palm Sunday. Then, I received a very clear call to the ministry when I was 17 years old, so I prepared for the ministry by attending Baylor University in Waco, TX and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, TX. While at Baylor, I was Youth and Music Director at Downsville Baptist Church near Waco. While at SWBTS, I was pastor of Smith Bend Baptist Church in Bosque County, TX. Then, I returned to Decatur to pastor Peachcrest Baptist Church for 4 years and Clairmont Baptist Church for 4 years. In 1992 the Lord called us to pastor the Bayshore Baptist Church in La Porte, TX, a suburb of Houston. We served there until 2001 when North Henry called me to be their pastor.

I used to play baseball and golf, but now most of my time is spent with our grandchildren. I am a runner, and I try to stay in shape. The passion of my life is to do the Lord’s work and see a movement of God to bring many people here and around the world to know Christ. It is a joy to be able to be a part of God’s family and to work in His kingdom.

If you would like to have a personal visit, please call me at 404-667-1208, and I can take you out to eat or come by your home.

Casey Matthews- Associate Pastor of Students & Family Life       tbt_3862

My life was changed when I accepted Christ at seven years old. God called me into ministry in the 7th grade but as many 7th graders I did not think much about the future. God was faithful and reaffirmed my call into ministry in the 11th grade at SuperWOW. Since God’s reaffirmation, I have sought to follow God’s call to ministry and have served in preschool, children’s, and student ministries. I earned a Bachelors Degree in Rhetoric from GCSU, and a MDiv from NOBTS. Some people ask if I will get my doctorate…only if God leads me to because I’m really enjoying a break from my 21+ years of continuous schooling.

I married my high school sweetheart, Amy, and have a son named Clayton with one on the way. We have a Weimaraner, Maddie, who is basically a 60 lb. lap dog. I enjoy anything outdoors. My heart’s passion is discipleship through living life with people.

 13Lee Sledge- Worship Leader

Thanks to godly parents, I was raised in a Christian home in church for bible study and worship on a regular basis. With all of the great influences in my life and exposure to God’s word, I accepted Christ at the age of 7. Shortly after graduating from Ga Tech in 1988, I married my high school sweetheart (and still my sweetheart), Penny. God has blessed us with 3 wonderful children (Amanda, Jared and Zachary), who are all currently part of the youth group at NHBC.

Penny and I have lived in the Stockbridge area since 1996 and have been members of NHBC since the fall of 1996. In March 2003, I began serving as the Worship Leader for North Henry. The fact that God is using me in this role is just a testimony that he uses “ordinary people” to do His work. God began preparing me for this ministry when I learned music in the 4th grade by playing trumpet and kept that up through High School. After Penny and I married, I joined the choir just so that she would and we’ve been involved with Music Ministry ever since.

In addition to leading Worship and working with the choir, I teach an Adult Connection Group Class, serve as Moderator and as a Deacon.

One of my favorite bible passages is Romans 8: 37-39. “Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Jacque Lederman- Worship Coordinator  jacque2

I have been on staff at North Henry for the past 9 years planning worship and giving leadership to our Worship Team from the piano.  I have been happily married to my husband Kent for 31 years, and we have three terrific young adult children, Austin, Vincent (newly married), and Kristen.  It has been my joy to serve God through music for most of my life.  I began accompanying and singing with choir in middle school and started playing piano regularly in church about that time, as well.  Through the years I have directed hand bell choir, children’s musicals, adult choir, sang and played in touring choirs, gospel and contemporary bands, taught piano, and have planned programs and worship for a range of events.

The two primary areas of ministry that God has called me to throughout my life are worship and prayer.  Kent and I together have been called to offer hospitality and host small groups in our home for many years.  We currently host a Wednesday evening Connection Group with a fellowship meal and prayer support as the focus.  I have also been involved with Moms In Touch International (now called Moms In Prayer International) for 19 years, since the time my children began school, and I still lead a college-age focused Moms In Prayer group here at North Henry on Friday mornings during the school year.  I fully believe in the ministry motto, “Praying moms make a difference!”  One of my greatest joys has been to raise my children into young adults who are also each serving God with their musical gifts.

It is my honor to serve God through the worship ministry at NHBC.  Come join us to worship the Lord!

Rhonda Ryan- Ministry Assistant/Financial Secretary

I was raised in a Godly, Christian home.  I thought I had accepted Christ around 5 years of age but  I knew that I could not remember praying when I was 5 years old.  At the age of 13, I was under conviction and went to the altar to accept Jesus as my Lord and Savior!  I have worked in various ministries at the church such as: Awana Sparks Teacher, Awana Secretary, Children’s Music Ministry, Ladies Bible Study Leader, and am now serving as Ministry Assistant and a youth worker.

I have been married to Ted Ryan for 22 years. We have 3 children: Jacob, Rachel, and Jessica. We like to camp and enjoy spending time together as a family.  My favorite verse is Isaiah 41:10.
