Steve's Sentiments - 3rd Qtr 2008
As of this writing I am sitting in the sound booth and running sound for VBS. It is amazing to see the response from the kids and how the Lord is working in their lives. I think that this is a direct result of North Henry's obedience to God. Let me explain: A few months ago we had a big influx of people making decisions for God; through the Strength team, Upwards, Truthseekers Student Ministries and now Vacation Bible school as well. What this shows us is that we have been faithful in what the Lord has given us. If we had not done a good job following up on these decisions then the Lord would have simply not sent us any more people. We should be thankful to the people in the church who visited, made phone calls and helped those who made decisions to take the next step in their faith. However, we must not grow complacent. We need to continue to make sure that nobody ever "slips through the cracks" after making a decision. This calls on every one of our members to make sure that this does not happen. Make a phone call, invite them out to dinner, ask them if they have questions, simply talk to them and make them feel welcome. Every member of NHBC is a minister and we must take that duty seriously.
Before a sign off I would like to say a special thank you to the members of NHBC. Amanda and I will be leaving for a month-long sabbatical in a few days and we are looking forward to the rest and rejuvenating. You as a church have helped to make this possible! Amanda and I were talking about the fact that this will be the first time in 12 years that we will be away from our youth for more then 2 weeks. While we will miss them, and the entire church, it will also be good to get away and let the Lord minister to us. By the fact that NHBC allows their ministers to have these times away is a testament to the love that this church has. Thank you for this opportunity! Please pray that the Lord will show us His will and help us to grow closer to Him during this time away.
In His service
